Under Construction
Welcome. This website is an ongoing work in progress but please feel free to look around. You can check out the properties tab if you're interested in information on what is currently available for lease.
Antiquarian Homes was created to help save some of Houston's past by caring for unique older properties and at the same time provide modern living spaces for those that prefer the charm of earlier architectural periods.
Welcome. This website is an ongoing work in progress but please feel free to look around. You can check out the properties tab if you're interested in information on what is currently available for lease.
Two apartments will be available soon. There's a 1/1 garage apartment and a 2/1.5 downstairs duplex close to completion. Let me know if you have interest or questions and please check the properties tab for more specific information.
Thank you, Mike.
We currently have one 2/1.5 and two 1/1 units available. One 2 bedroom and one 1 bedroom in Montrose and a 1 bedroom in Eastwood. All in vintage properties pushing 100 years old. Check the properties tab for the latest availabilities.
Thank you, Mike.
Due to recent street construction on the block we took the opportunity to take some units offline and do some needed updating and repairs. As a result, we have the rare chance to offer 4 units for lease at once. We have 2 1-bedroom garage apartments and 2 2-bedroom duplex apartments open for lease on December 1st. Please schedule a look if you're interested in living in an antique home full of charm and unique qualities.
Thank you, Mike.
Updated: 4112 is no longer available! PLease check back soon for other openings. 4112 Greeley Street is a 2 /1.5 downstairs space. Thank you, Mike.
I'm happy to announce that there will be two upcoming availabilities. 4117A Greeley Street is a 1/1 upstairs garage apartment space with balcony and 4112 Greeley Street is a 2 /1.5 downstairs space. Please take a look and see what each has to offer! Thank you, Mike.
I'm sorry, but all of the apartments are currently leased. Please check back again for future availability. Thank you for your interest in Antiquarian Homes.
4117B Greeley ("The Oasis") is available now. Just finished some updating on this ground level 1-bedroom apartment with the largest private patio of any of my units. 500+ sqft of additional private patio space is included! This is a great apartment for the person that likes to garden or have an outdoor living area. Please email me or call for a viewing. More information and photos are available in the "Properties" section. Thank you for your interest! Mike
After some renovation work including a new tile shower, 4110 1/2 Greeley ("The Hidden Loft") will be available beginning 10/1/15. (Update 10/1/15: 4110 1/2 is no longer available. Sorry!) It's a 1 bedroom garage apartment with 1 bath and a bonus room. The bonus room is similar to a loft space and would make for a great home office. The entire apartment is about 800 sqft and feels a little more spacious than the usual garage apartments in Montrose. Please email me or call for a viewing. More information and photos are available in the "Properties" section. Thank you for your interest! Mike
Unfortunately, for all of you inquiring about spaces for rent in Montrose and surrounding areas, everything I have is full right now. I wish I had more apartments to offer! I've been busily working away on a complete rehab project of a 90+ year-old duplex in another beautiful, older architecture area of town called Eastwood and that work is finally at the end. The bad news is those two 3-bedroom spaces are also already under lease. I can only hope that I'll be able to add another cool property to the offerings soon. In the meantime, if anything opens up, I'll be sure to post it here and to offer it to those that have been kind enough to leave their contact info with me. Thank you very much for your interest! Mike
Work is wrapping up on 4117B. I decided to concentrate on giving this apartment a better flow from the the large patio area into the living space. All new doors were added including a set of french doors that open out from the living room so the patio can become part of the house on those perfect days. Other updates include crown molding, a garden area, ceiling fans, some new appliances, recessed lighting, etc... It's now available for showing and will be completely ready by Oct 1st.
Sorry to those making inquiries, 4112 Greeley is no longer available. I very much appreciate your interest. Please check back soon for information on a new project.
After a lengthy renovation, 4117A Greeley (a.k.a "The Acorn") was snapped up in less than a week, but I do have another apartment opening up November 1st. 4112 Greeley is a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath 1,300 sqft beauty with lots of arts and crafts period charm. There's more info available in the properties section.
4117A Greeley (a.k.a "The Acorn") is now available for lease. It took a few months, but I think the finished product is worth it. Feel free to call and schedule an appointment if you would like to take a look.
4117A Greeley (a.k.a "The Acorn") will soon be available for lease. I'm doing some updates to it now, but pictures and rental info will be posted soon.
Landscaping work continues in front of 620 Colquitt which includes the addition of a hedge of double knockout roses. The city has finished the new sewer line installation for 4110-4112 and I'm doing my best to get the landscaping back to normal after all of that mess.
Also in the works is a new Antiquarian property. I'm very excited about this one because it far surpasses the need for restoration of any of my previous projects. Location and specifics will be announced soon.
Work on the exterior of 620 Colquitt and 4119 Greeley is winding down. The new roof is finished and exterior repairs and painting are in the final days. Landscaping work will begin soon, but new plantings will have to wait until the potential for freezing weather passes as we get closer to spring.
As the year comes to and end, this is a friendly reminder to residents to replace your smoke detector batteries and air filters regularly. Air filters in these older homes tend to clog more rapidly than modern homes and you need to keep an eye on them before it turns into a big problem with equipment failure. Smoke detector batteries should be replaced at least once a year and detectors should be tested once a month when you're checking those air filters.
